AI voice agents
AI voice agents for ecommerce: the call that finishes the order.
An AI agent that phones your customers at the moments a text gets ignored: the cart they left, the restock they asked for, the payment that failed. It runs as a step inside your Klaviyo flows, calls only people who agreed to be called, and reports every call back into Klaviyo.
Now onboarding US ecommerce and retail brands · Built on Klaviyo and Shopify
What it handles
Twelve calls, split by the permission each one needs.
Order calls use the phone number given for that order. Revenue calls go only to customers who ticked a separate box agreeing to AI calls. Pilots start with two or three of these.
Order calls The number given for that order
- 01
Trigger · order placed
Order confirmation
Confirms the items and the delivery address on high-value or first orders before they ship, and fixes the typo in the address while it still can be fixed.
- 02
Trigger · cash-on-delivery order
Cash-on-delivery confirmation
For stores that take cash on delivery: confirms the order is real before it is packed, and cancels the ones that are not.
- 03
Trigger · subscription payment fails
Failed payment
Explains that the next delivery is on hold and sends a secure card-update link. It never asks for card details on the call.
- 04
Trigger · delivery exception
Delivery problems
Calls only when something went wrong: a failed delivery, a returned parcel, an address the carrier cannot find. Routine tracking stays in email and SMS.
- 05
Trigger · order missing details
Missing order details
Collects the size, personalisation or address line an order is waiting on, and writes it back to the Shopify order.
- 06
Inbound · your store number
Warranty and product questions
Answers calls from your own warranty terms, policies and product data at any hour, and hands anything unusual to your team with a written summary.
Revenue calls Only customers who agreed to AI calls
- 07
Trigger · high-value checkout left
Abandoned checkout
Asks what got in the way, answers the real objection and sends the checkout link. A one-time code only if price was the blocker and your discount rules allow it.
- 08
Trigger · back in stock
Back in stock
Tells the customer the product they asked about is back and sends the link, before it sells out again. No invented stock counts, no discount.
- 09
Trigger · order placed, not shipped
Add-on before it ships
Offers one product that genuinely goes with the order and sends a link to add it, while the parcel is still in the warehouse.
- 10
Trigger · a segment you choose
Launches and early access
Early access for VIPs, a Black Friday preview, a new collection: paced calls to consented customers, inside calling hours, never to the whole list.
- 11
Trigger · subscription renewal due
Renewal and upgrade
The renewal reminder is an order call. The upgrade offer goes only to customers who agreed to AI calls.
- 12
Trigger · 7–14 days after delivery
Review and feedback
Asks how the order went. The customer’s own words go into Klaviyo, and into your review app only word for word, never rewritten.
How it works
One step inside the flows you already run.
Nothing new for your team to log into. The call is a step in a Klaviyo flow, and everything it learns comes back to Klaviyo.
- 01
The flow reaches the call step
Your abandoned-checkout, back-in-stock or failed-payment flow in Klaviyo hands the customer to the agent, together with what they were buying.
- 02
The rules run before any call
Consent on file, not on the do-not-call list, no AI call in the last seven days, not already bought, and inside calling hours in every time zone they could be in. Any “no” means no call, and the reason is logged.
- 03
The agent calls
It says it is an AI assistant and that the call is recorded, checks it is speaking to the right person, then asks one question at a time in your brand’s voice.
- 04
It acts during the call
Sends the checkout, product or card-update link by SMS or email through Klaviyo, creates a one-time Shopify code if your rules allow, stops all calls the moment someone asks, and flags a person when they want one.
- 05
The result goes back to Klaviyo
Every call becomes a Klaviyo event with the outcome, the objection and the customer’s own words. Your flows branch on it and your reports show it.
- 06
A holdout keeps it honest
One in five eligible customers is never called. Orders are compared against that group, so the report shows what the calls added, not what the flow would have earned anyway.
Platforms
Works with the store and flows you already run.
Nothing to migrate. The agent reads your Shopify orders, runs as a step in your Klaviyo flows and writes every result back to Klaviyo, so your team keeps working where it already works.

Failed-payment and renewal triggers
- Voice
- Retell AI’s voice engine, with a dedicated US phone number for your brand.
- Also
- Klaviyo’s own back-in-stock alerts, and subscription apps that send payment events to Klaviyo, such as Skio and Loop.
- Not yet
- Omnisend, Brevo or Attentive as the flow platform, WooCommerce and BigCommerce stores, and calls outside the US.
Compliance
Built for the rules on AI calls, not around them.
Since February 2024 the FCC treats AI-generated voices as an “artificial voice” under the TCPA. These rules are part of the build, not settings that can be switched off. Your counsel signs off the consent wording before launch.
- 01
Written consent for revenue calls
A separate, unticked box on your signup forms, stored in Klaviyo with the date and the wording version. No box, no marketing call.
- 02
Calling hours in their time zone
Weekdays 10am–7pm and Saturdays 10am–5pm local time, never Sundays or federal holidays. In states with two time zones, both have to be inside hours.
- 03
Disclosure on every call
The agent says it is an AI and that the call is recorded before anything else, and says so again whenever it is asked.
- 04
Stop means stop
“Don’t call me” sets do-not-call on the Klaviyo profile during the call, before the agent says goodbye. It is never argued with.
- 05
No payment details
The agent never asks for or accepts card numbers. It sends your secure checkout or card-update link instead.
- 06
US numbers, no voicemails
At launch the agent calls US numbers only and hangs up on voicemail. UK and Irish calls follow once consent under PECR and ePrivacy rules is in place.
Measurement
One number decides whether a call type stays.
No borrowed benchmarks. The pilot is judged on your own customers, against your own holdout.
- 01
Lift against the holdout
Orders within 72 hours from customers who were called, against the one in five who were not, for each type of call.
- 02
Reach, and every reason for no call
How many customers were eligible, called and answered, and why the rest were not called: no consent, outside hours, already bought.
- 03
Objections in their own words
Price, shipping, fit and trust, counted per call type, with the customer’s own words you can use in emails and on product pages.
- 04
Opt-outs, watched weekly
Opt-outs per call type. A call that annoys customers is switched off, whatever it earns.
The pilot
Start with two or three calls, measured before anything scales.
Most pilots start with abandoned checkout, back in stock and failed payments. The price is quoted after the free audit because call volume drives the cost, and you get it in writing before anything is built.

AI voice agents, answered
Is it legal to call customers with an AI voice?
In the US, yes, with the right consent. Since February 2024 the FCC treats AI-generated voices as an artificial voice under the TCPA, so marketing calls need prior express written consent and order calls need the number to have been given for that order. We build the consent capture, the calling hours and the opt-out into the system, and your counsel signs off the wording before launch.
Will customers know they are talking to an AI?
Yes. Every call opens with the agent saying it is an AI assistant calling for your brand and that the call is recorded. If a customer asks again, it says so plainly.
Does it replace email and SMS?
No. It is one step inside flows that keep running. The emails and texts still go out; the call goes to the customers for whom a conversation is worth more than another message, usually high-value checkouts and failed payments.
What happens when someone says stop?
The agent sets do-not-call on their Klaviyo profile during the call, confirms it, and ends the call. That customer is not called again unless they tick the consent box again.
Can the agent take payments?
No. It sends your secure checkout or card-update link by SMS or email and never asks for or accepts card details on the call.
Which platforms does it work with?
Shopify and Klaviyo at launch. The call is triggered by a Klaviyo flow step, the order check and one-time codes come from Shopify, and every result lands back in Klaviyo. Subscription apps such as Recharge, Skio and Loop connect through the events they already send to Klaviyo. Omnisend, Brevo and Attentive are not supported as the flow platform yet, and neither are WooCommerce or BigCommerce stores.
Do you call customers outside the US?
Not at launch: the agent calls US numbers only. Calls to UK and Irish customers need their own consent under PECR and the Irish ePrivacy rules, and follow once that is in place.
How is it priced?
It is quoted after the free 60-minute audit, because call volume drives the cost. You get the quote in writing before anything is built, and the pilot is judged on the holdout comparison before it scales.
How soon will we know if it works?
Calls and outcomes show in Klaviyo from the first day. The revenue comparison with the holdout is reported once each type of call has enough volume to be reliable, and we tell you before the pilot starts how long that will take at your volume.
